WHAT: An event focused on inspiring youth to pursue (STEM), Science, Technology, Engineering and Math academics and careers, we are also adding an element of the Arts.
This event is interactive and audience engaging, with cool tech demonstrations. This high-energy, educational and entertaining event is for our key stakeholders and the Los Angeles community at large to command their attention and infuse them with the excitement, energy and road-map to help to attract future successful candidates for their industries.
Audience: The objective of this event is to convene thought leaders, key voices from across the stakeholder community to present perspectives from industry, government, education and non-profits working on these issues.
Mission: To share with our Clubs and key stakeholders how to be are part of the Los Angeles County Alliance for Boys & Girls Clubs movement to encourage STEM/STEAM education by establishing new curriculum, working closely to support girls and minority students, and setting new standards of achievement. JR Dzubak, the Alliance Steering Committee Chair says, “There is lots of interest in figuring out how to establish rigorous STEM curricular pathways that start when students are in middle to high school. We have found that the adoption of various programs provide changes that are actually happening a bit faster than we anticipated with positive results in our Clubs.” We look forward to partnering with the community at large to further the mission of STEM education.
Facts: American workers who possess and utilize STEM skills also make more money. Georgetown University researchers found that 8 of the top 10 college majors in terms of income were in STEM fields such as petroleum, aerospace, chemical and mechanical engineering. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Commerce Economics and Statistics Administration has discovered that employees in STEM jobs consistently earn a wage premium of up to 26 percent more than workers in non-STEM positions, a trend that has been steady over time.
Event: The STEM Part 2 with STEAM convene high-level decision-makers within organizations across the public, private, academic and non-profit sectors with the aim of informing and connecting stakeholders by establishing common goals and patterns of excellence. The event will be well choreographed, highly interactive with audience participation and use video, audio and first-hand experiences to make the presentation better relate to audiences.
Sponsors: For this event, sponsors are integrated into the content presentation of the show. This gives sponsors a high-profile opportunity to speak about their company and themselves as part of the interactive presentation. Information on sponsor’s company will be included in our on-air radio/tv promotions, our website and club email newsletter, during the show while they are on stage sponsors are highlighted on large projection screens.

Why the STEM ROUNDTABLE PART 2 WITH STEAM?
Our first event the STEM Roundtable was a big success pulling together significant key stakeholders and an audience that benefited by the information sharing. We believe that our STEM PART 2 WITH STEAM will be equally successful by bridging the youth development Boys & Girls Club community with science-rich institutions such as universities and corporations, and science centers. It is through this awareness and connectivity the Alliance will increase the quality and quantity of STEM programs in its member Clubs. Moreover, the Alliance is engaging subject matter experts through events such as the STEM Roundtable and STEM Part 2 with STEAM, in order to gain familiarity with a variety of STEM programs so that all of our organizations can offer innovative and inspiring STEM programs for its young people.
